How the Highlands inspired science
   
 

An exhibition based on the original geological mapping of Scotland’s Northwest Highlands. The 1880s maps and field sketches document the first steps to a worldwide understanding of how mountains are formed. Entrance to all the exhibitions is free.

London, The Geological Society

Feb 6th - Feb 28th
At 6pm on Feb 6th the exhibition will be launched in London with a wine reception and a series of short talks about the geology of the NW Highlands and the 'Mapping Mountains' project. The reception is free, but by ticket only - contact Jackie Maggs

The exhibition was launched with a public lecture "Land of Mountain and Flood"- geological tales from the Scottish Highlands by Dr Iain Stewart, TV presenter and geologist at the Macphail Centre Ullapool.
